Beth
Bahar as Rabbinic Intern for 2008-2009
Adath
Israel Congregation is pleased to announce that Beth Bahar will
serve as its rabbinic intern for the 2008-2009 year. Beth is a fifth
year rabbinical student at the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Beth was born and
grew up in Pittsburgh in the Rodef Shalom Congregation. She
attended Brandies University and graduated with a degree in
Philosophy and minors in Women’s Studies and Jewish Studies. Her
time at Brandeis inspired her to learn more about Judaism and pursue
opportunities at the Brandeis Hillel. Beth also taught at various
congregations in the Boston area. She worked for one year at Jewish
Vocational Services in Minneapolis, helping individuals find jobs
and teaching interview skills. Her desire to continue her studies
and to learn Hebrew led her to move to Israel and volunteer on
Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek and study Hebrew. She then spent the next
year studying at HUC-JIR in Jerusalem, where she took advantage of
the opportunities to experience diverse forms of tefila. Beth is
recently married to Uzi Bahar, whom she met while studying at HUC
right here in Cincinnati. The congregation is very much looking
forward to Beth being a part of our community for the coming year as
she completes her studies.
