Our Adath Israel Choir under the direction of Mitch Cohen, provides musical inspiration for our congregation during our High Holy Day services and a number of other services during the year.

Our choir has a diverse group of both men and women volunteers ranging in ages from 13 to over 80+ years.

During the High Holy Days, our choir davens along with our Cantor Dani Birnbaum who comes in from Israel where he resides with his wife Ba'Tella and 4 children.

Our Choir Director, Mitch Cohen, has been a member of the Adath Israel Choir for 30 years. He was promoted to the Director position in 1991. Mitch has composed several original liturgical pieces for cantor and choir that congregants will hear, including Unetaneh Tokev, UvaShofar Gadol, Yaahleh, El Melech Yoshev, Sh'ma Kolenu, Psalm 23, and Psalm 27.

Our choir practices during the summer months to get ready for the High Holy Days. Requirements for choir membership are:

  • Must be a member of Adath Israel Congregation

  • Must enjoy music and singing with others

  • A formal musical background is not required!
