Sharon B. Wasserberg, Director of Education
EMAIL: sharon@adath-israel.org

Sharon Wasserberg earned her BA at Northern Illinois University in De Kalb Illinois (back in the 1970’s) where she studied Sociology and Psychology as well as earning teacher certification. Twenty years later, she returned to study at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles for graduate school. Following the full-time two year program, Sharon was awarded a MAED and B.Lit. (Bachelors of Hebrew Letters and Literature). During that 20 year gap, Sharon taught Religious School, directed a Stepping Stones Program, and was a Sisterhood president. In her spare time, she had three children who survived her parenting skills and become wonderful adults. She was the director of education at JRC in Evanston Illinois from 1997-2002 and then served as the director of education of two conservative congregations in Milwaukee (at the same time) and principal of their three-year combined religious school program. That ‘experiment’ ended in May 2005. Soon after the decision to close the school, the school board co-chair in Milwaukee, who happens to be a life-long friend of Adath Israel’s Leslie Newman, recommended that Sharon contact Adath Israel as they were looking for a new educator.
