Rabbi Irvin M. Wise, Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Wise, who was born and raised in Cincinnati, assumed the position of senior rabbi of Adath Israel Congregation in 1992. Rabbi Wise received his Masters of Arts Degree in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College/Jewish Institute of Religion in 1978 and his rabbinic ordination from HUC in 1979. Prior to coming to Adath Israel, Rabbi Wise served as the Director of Student Activities and Assistant Rabbi at Hebrew Union college in Jerusalem and as the Executive Director of the Hillel Foundation at both Ohio University and the University of Minnesota. A member of the Rabbinical Assembly, Rabbi Wise is a respected and beloved teacher who teaches extensively in the Adult Studies program at Adath Israel as well as in the Conservative High School Mercaz and Adath Israel's religious school. He has continued to teach a variety of core and elective classes since coming to Cincinnati in 1992. Rabbi Wise has served as President of Greater Cincinnati Board of Rabbis. He also serves on numerous boards and committees in our Jewish community. He and his wife Kathy have three daughters, Ora, Shalva and Tehila.

Rabbi Karen Kriger Bogard, Associate Rabbi

Rabbi Karen Kriger Bogard deeply believes that no matter what our backgrounds are, Judaism belongs to us all. As a rabbi, she has made it her mission to educate children of all ages--and their families--on how to meaningfully incorporate the rhythms of a Jewish life into their homes.
She served as Director of
Judaics and Talmud/Hebrew Instructor for Peoria Hebrew Day School, as Director of Anshai Emeth’s Religious School and also served on the Executive Board of the Interfaith Alliance of Central Illinois. Rabbi Karen Kriger Bogard is a Brickner Social Justice fellow, in a joint program among The National Jewish Center for Leadership and Learning, the Religious Action Center, and the Union for Reform Judaism.

Rabbi Daniel Bogard, Associate Rabbi

Rabbi Daniel Bogard’s passion is the power of Talmud Torah to bring inspiration and depth to our daily lives. His focus in Peoria was on adult learning and study, with a particular focus on personal growth. In addition to being co-rabbi, he served as the director of Bradley University’s Hillel, and as an adjunct professor of religious studies at Bradley University.
At 33, Rabbi Daniel Bogard recently became the youngest Senior Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute, joining a small and prestigious group of fellows, including the leadership of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, Union for Reform Judaism, Central Conference of American Rabbis, the Rabbinical Assembly, Yeshivat Maharat, and Yeshivat Chovaveh Torah.
Joan S. Todd, Executive Director

Joan’s career has focused on strategic communications, management, budgeting and operations. She comes to Adath Israel from Ball State University, where she was Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications and Chief Communications Officer. Joan has two grown children, Lauren and Daniel, and is excited to come to Cincinnati, where her family has long ties to HUC. It will be a return to city life after managing her small farm in Indiana. She resides with her significant other, Melvin.
Dara Wood
Dara Wood, Director of Education

Dara Wood holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and a Montessori certificate. She spent time substitute teaching with Lakota schools and then served as head teacher at a local Montessori pre-school for 4 years. Dara has been an active volunteer at Adath Israel for many years. She had previously served as the chair of the religious school board and is looking forward to helping our shul and being a part of running the program this year. She is married to Rob and has two children, Brittany and Becca, both Adath Israel Religious School and Mercaz graduates.
Brianna Pecsok, Coordinator or Youth and Family Programs

Brianna grew up in Cincinnati and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in International Relations. She was inspired to be a leader in the Jewish communal world  by her experiences as a board member of her youth group, summer camp, being a Sunday school madricha, and her trip to Israel. She has a lot of leadership experience through her involvement at The OSU Hillel, where she served as president  the Buckeye Leadership Fellows cohort, being a resident advisor and more! 

Mollie Newman, Marketing Associate
Mollie manages online and printed publications, social media, and synagogue communication. Holding a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in History and Film and Video Studies, she worked as a film/TV producer in New York and LA. Upon returning to her hometown, Mollie took the position as Adath Israel’s Coordinator of Youth and Family Programs, a role she found both rewarding and tremendous fun. Most recently, she served as the Public Relations and Communications Coordinator at Wise Temple. Mollie comes to this new position with years of experience in communication, organization, and synagogue life, as well as a passion for graphic design. She lives with her husband, Jared, and her two children, Arthur and Lielle. 
Kathy Haas, Assistant Synagogue Administrator

Kathy assists our Synagogue Administrator Pauline Horn. She also supervises all aspects of building usage, catering, office and High Holy Days as well as a myriad of other projects.
Mitch Cohen, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Teacher

Mitch teaches our bar and bat mitzvah students. He also teaches music and "trope" in our religious school. Mitch is available to instruct congregants who wish to learn how to lead services, such as Shachrit and Musaf. He is also available to teach congregants skills, such as how to chant torah and haftorah. Mitch has been our High Holy Day Choir Director since 1991 and also directs our Friday Night Live Band Shir Ami.
Sandy Levine, Torah Reading Coordinator

Sandy coordinates the scheduling of our torah readers. We encourage our congregants to chant torah. Any congregants who are interested in reading a torah aliyah can contact her directly. She can also arrange times for torah readers to come into the synagogue to practice reading their portion out of the actual torah scroll.

She was born and raised in Cincinnati and went to school for Computer Business Management.
  She found her way into medical office management for over 13 years where she helped grow her office and establish a great patient/doctor relationship. In her spare time, you will usually find her doing some kind of work with animals.She has grown up with plenty of animals and grew her love of them by pet sitting and grooming. She loves to volunteer and help any animal shelter or organization to find homes and dwindle the homeless population.

Tim and his staff maintain the synagogue's physical plant and grounds with great care- much as they do in their own homes.
