Sharon B. Wasserberg,
Director of Education |
EMAIL:
sharon@adath-israel.org
Sharon Wasserberg earned her BA at Northern
Illinois University in De Kalb Illinois
(back in the 1970’s) where she studied
Sociology and Psychology as well as earning
teacher certification. Twenty years later,
she returned to study at the University of
Judaism in Los Angeles for graduate school.
Following the full-time two year program,
Sharon was awarded a MAED and B.Lit.
(Bachelors of Hebrew Letters and
Literature). During that 20 year gap, Sharon
taught Religious School, directed a Stepping
Stones Program, and was a Sisterhood
president. In her spare time, she had three
children who survived her parenting skills
and become wonderful adults. She was the
director of education at JRC in Evanston
Illinois from 1997-2002 and then served as
the director of education of two
conservative congregations in Milwaukee (at
the same time) and principal of their
three-year combined religious school
program. That ‘experiment’ ended in May
2005. Soon after the decision to close the
school, the school board co-chair in
Milwaukee, who happens to be a life-long
friend of Adath Israel’s Leslie Newman,
recommended that Sharon contact Adath Israel
as they were looking for a new educator.

Beth Bahar,
Rabbinic Intern |
PHONE: 793-1800, extension 129
EMAIL:
beth@adath-israel.org
Beth is a
fifth year rabbinical student at the Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
Beth was
born and grew up in Pittsburgh in the Rodef
Shalom Congregation. She attended Brandies
University and graduated with a degree in
Philosophy and minors in Women’s Studies and
Jewish Studies. Her time at Brandeis
inspired her to learn more about Judaism and
pursue opportunities at the Brandeis Hillel.
Beth also taught at various congregations in
the Boston area. She worked for one year at
Jewish Vocational Services in Minneapolis,
helping individuals find jobs and teaching
interview skills. Her desire to continue
her studies and to learn Hebrew led her to
move to Israel and volunteer on Kibbutz
Mishmar HaEmek and study Hebrew. She then
spent the next year studying at HUC-JIR in
Jerusalem, where she took advantage of the
opportunities to experience diverse forms of
tefila. Beth is recently married to Uzi
Bahar, whom she met while studying at HUC
right here in Cincinnati. The congregation
is very much looking forward to Beth being a
part of our community for the coming year as
she completes her studies.
