Rabbi Wise, who was born and raised in
Cincinnati, assumed the position of senior
rabbi of Adath Israel Congregation in 1992.
Rabbi Wise received his Masters of Arts
Degree in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union
College/Jewish Institute of Religion in 1978
and his rabbinic ordination from HUC in
1979. Prior to coming to Adath Israel, Rabbi
Wise served as the Director of Student
Activities and Assistant Rabbi at Hebrew
Union college in Jerusalem and as the
Executive Director of the Hillel Foundation
at both Ohio University and the University
of Minnesota.
A member of the Rabbinical Assembly, Rabbi
Wise is a respected and beloved teacher who
teaches extensively in the Adult Studies
program at Adath Israel as well as in the
Conservative High School Mercaz and Adath
Israel's religious school. He has continued
to teach a variety of core and elective
classes since coming to Cincinnati in 1992
Rabbi Wise has served as President of
Greater Cincinnati Board of Rabbis. He also
serves on numerous boards and committees in
our Jewish community.
He and his wife Kathy have three daughters,
Ora, Shalva and Tehila.

Pauline is responsible
for the day to day operations of our
congregation. She is your contact for
membership information. She brings to us
over 30 years of experience as a business
manager and executive director. She also
received her masters from Siegel College of
Judaic Studies in Beachwood, Ohio.

Dara Wood, Director of Education |
Dara Wood
holds a Bachelors of Science degree in
Elementary Education from the University of
Cincinnati and a Montessori certificate. She
spent time substitute teaching with Lakota
schools and then served as head teacher at a
local Montessori pre-school for 4 years.
Dara currently is beginning her 6th year as
the Director of Mercaz Conservative Hebrew
High School. Dara has been an active
volunteer at Adath Israel for many years.
She had previously served as the chair of
the religious school board and is looking
forward to helping our shul and being a part
of running the program this year. She is
married to Rob and has two children,
Brittany and Becca, both Adath Israel
Religious School and Mercaz graduates.

Alan Weiner, Ritual
Director |

Alan coordinates all aspects of our Bar/Bat
Mitzvah program and is responsible for the
daily minyan and other religious services.
Alan also instructs congregants on how to
lead services, chant Torah, and chant
Haftorah.
Alan brings a wide variety of experience to
Adath Israael from having worked in public
education and the Jewish community. |

Kathy Haas, Arrangements Director |

Kathy supervises all aspects of building
usage, catering, office and High Holy Days
as well as a myriad of other projects. |

Brent Gutmann, Rabbinic
Intern |
Brent Gutmann was born
in White Plains, New York but grew up in
Dayton, Ohio. He attended Indiana University
where he studied philosophy. Brent lived in
Dayton, Chicago, and Washington DC before
entering Rabbinical school where he will be
starting his third year at Hebrew Union
College. He has also lived in Jerusalem,
Phang Gna Thailand, and has traveled Eastern
Europe, the middle east and Asia. Brent
lives in Hyde Park with his wife and new
baby girl.

Mollie Newman, Coordinator of Youth & Family
Programming |
Mollie Newman
earned her bachelor’s degree from The
University of Michigan and went on to work
as a producer in the television industry in
both New York and Hollywood. As a graduate
of Yavneh Day School and Walnut Hills High
School, she has always held a special place
for Judaism and her hometown. When she moved
back to Cincinnati with her husband, Jared,
she was eager to use her coordinating and
communication skills for the youth and
families at Adath Israel.
