Sharon B. Wasserberg, Director of Education
EMAIL: sharon@adath-israel.org
Director of Education
Sharon Wasserberg earned her BA at Northern Illinois University in De Kalb Illinois (back in the 1970’s) where she studied Sociology and Psychology as well as earning teacher certification. Twenty years later, she returned to study at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles for graduate school. Following the full-time two year program, Sharon was awarded a MAED and B.Lit. (Bachelors of Hebrew Letters and Literature). During that 20 year gap, Sharon taught Religious School, directed a Stepping Stones Program, and was a Sisterhood president. In her spare time, she had three children who survived her parenting skills and become wonderful adults. She was the director of education at JRC in Evanston Illinois from 1997-2002 and then served as the director of education of two conservative congregations in Milwaukee (at the same time) and principal of their three-year combined religious school program. That ‘experiment’ ended in May 2005. Soon after the decision to close the school, the school board co-chair in Milwaukee, who happens to be a life-long friend of Adath Israel’s Leslie Newman, recommended that Sharon contact Adath Israel as they were looking for a new educator. |

Mitch Delcau
PHONE: 793-1800, extension 129 EMAIL: mitch@adath-israel.org
Rabbinic Intern.
Mitch Delcau is in his fourth year of rabbinical study at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
Mitch was born in New Rochelle, New York and grew up outside Nashville, Tennessee in Cheatham County. After graduating high school, he attended Tennessee State University and completed a degree in civil engineering. While in undergraduate school, he began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and worked on various flood control and streambank protection projects. This career path led him to pursue a graduate degree in hydraulic river engineering at Colorado State University. At CSU, he became heavily involved in Hillel as social director. With his wonderful southern accent and charm, he motivated college students to “hang out with the Jews” and termed this period of CSU Hillel “the revival.” This organization ignited his interest in becoming a more learned and involved Jew and reminded him of his interest when he was younger about becoming a rabbi.
Through Colorado Hillel, Mitch also met his wife Stacey who was studying at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He accompanied her to live for a year in Israel while she began her studies in the Jewish Education program of HUC-JIR and was a student at the Liberal Yeshivah, Beit Midrash in Jerusalem. |
