Plans are underway for our
partnership with the Interfaith Hospitality
Network (IHN), and we wanted to give you all an
update on where we are in the planning process.
IHN’s Shelter Program provides shelter, meals,
and supportive services to homeless families in
Cincinnati. Our first hosting week is December
20th–27th 2009. There is a lot to do, and your
help will be appreciated and needed. Even if you
are not available that week, many tasks need to
be completed before and after the actual hosting
week. We’ve got small and large tasks; we’ve
also got one-time only and on-going tasks! No
commitment is too small (though if you want to
go big, who are we to discourage you?)
So, to volunteer for this program (or to learn
more about it as we get closer), please email
Kathy Wise at
kawise@cinci.rr.com or call her at 351-1039.
You can also call the synagogue office at
513-793-1800 to put your name on our volunteer
list. The need is great, our possibilities to
make a difference are great, and IT'S A MITZVAH!
We’ll be having two training meetings for anyone
interested in volunteering (you need only attend
one):
Thursday, August 27th at 7:30 p.m. at Adath
Israel - 1st volunteer training session
Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at Adath
Israel - 2nd volunteer training session
Watch for details regarding a "field trip" to
the IHN day center (entitled) "IHN Today, Home
Tomorrow" to learn about the holistic services
IHN provides for clients.
This is a huge undertaking, and we are counting
on YOU, the Adath Israel family, to help make it
a success. As you can see below, we need a lot
of “stuff,” and there is much more that will be
needed as we get closer. Please share the list
with your friends and families. We have storage
space available!
