Rabbi Irvin M. Wise, Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Wise, who was born and raised in Cincinnati, assumed the position of senior rabbi of Adath Israel Congregation in 1992. Rabbi Wise received his Masters of Arts Degree in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College/Jewish Institute of Religion in 1978 and his rabbinic ordination from HUC in 1979. Prior to coming to Adath Israel, Rabbi Wise served as the Director of Student Activities and Assistant Rabbi at Hebrew Union college in Jerusalem and as the Executive Director of the Hillel Foundation at both Ohio University and the University of Minnesota. A member of the Rabbinical Assembly, Rabbi Wise is a respected and beloved teacher who teaches extensively in the Adult Studies program at Adath Israel as well as in the Conservative High School Mercaz and Adath Israel's religious school. He has continued to teach a variety of core and elective classes since coming to Cincinnati in 1992. Rabbi Wise has served as President of Greater Cincinnati Board of Rabbis. He also serves on numerous boards and committees in our Jewish community. He and his wife Kathy have three children, Ora, Shalva and T.
Rabbi Benjamin Chaidell, Assistant Rabbi

Growing up in New York City, Rabbi Chaidell and his family attended another Adath Israel - a Conservative Synagogue in Riverdale. He went on to major in religious studies at Yale University and became the co-coordinator of the egalitarian minyan at Hillel and joined the Jewish Fraternity, AEPi. During college Rabbi Chaidell interned at a mental health center in the Bronx where he enjoyed building positive relationships with others and supporting them to make their lives better. Upon graduating from Yale, Rabbi Chaidell spent two years with the Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) and did consulting with both teachers and education directors and planned unique programs. This is when he decided to become a rabbi. Outside of his rabbinic work, Rabbi Chaidell enjoys listening to music, dancing, exploring where he lives, and watching baseball. He puts a lot of time into building relationships with family and friends.

Chris Hannon, Chief Operating Officer

Chris comes with his family from West Lafayette, Indiana, and has significant management and leadership experience working with non-profits. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lafayette. Chris is skilled in strategic, goal-oriented thinking, talent management, budgets and finance, and communication.

Dara Wood
Dara Wood, Director of Education and Ritual

Dara Wood holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and a Montessori certificate. She spent time substitute teaching with Lakota schools and then served as head teacher at a local Montessori pre-school for four years. Dara has been an active volunteer at Adath Israel for many years. She had previously served as the chair of the religious school board. She is married to Rob and has two children, Brittany and Becca, both Adath Israel Religious School and Mercaz graduates.

Phylicia Dashoff, Coordinator or Youth and Family Programs

Phylicia was born in Baltimore and moved to South Florida in 2000 where her love for Kadima and USY began! Phylicia loved learning the ins and outs of temple life which led to her leadership roles in USY. She received her B.A. in English from Florida Atlantic University in 2013, but her passion for USY continued as she became the youth director at Temple Beth Am in Margate, Florida during her senior year. In 2016, she made the brief move to Pittsburgh to complete an 11-month service year as an education justice fellow for the Jewish non-profit Repair the World. Phylicia is thrilled to move to Cincinnati this summer and get back into the world of USY and conservative Judaism! Her fiancé, Jason, is in Rabbinical school at HUC.
Mollie Newman, Director of Marketing

Mollie manages online and printed publications, social media, and synagogue communication. Holding a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in History and Film and Video Studies, she worked as a film/TV producer in New York and LA. Upon returning to her hometown, Mollie took the position as Adath Israel’s Coordinator of Youth and Family Programs, a role she found both rewarding and tremendous fun. Most recently, she served as the Public Relations and Communications Coordinator at Wise Temple. Mollie comes to this new position with years of experience in communication, organization, and synagogue life, as well as a passion for graphic design. She lives with her husband, Jared, and her two children, Arthur and Lielle. 

Kathy Haas, Assistant Administrator

Kathy supervises all aspects of building usage, catering, office and High Holy Days as well as a myriad of other projects.
Mitch Cohen, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Teacher

Mitch teaches our bar and bat mitzvah students. He also teaches music and "trope" in our religious school. Mitch is available to instruct congregants who wish to learn how to lead services, such as Shachrit and Musaf. He is also available to teach congregants skills, such as how to chant Torah and Haftorah. Mitch has been our High Holy Day Choir Director since 1991 and also directs our Friday Night Live Band Shir Ami.
Sandy Levine, Torah Reading Coordinator

Sandy coordinates the scheduling of our Torah readers. We encourage our congregants to chant Torah. Any congregants who are interested in reading a Torah Aliyah can contact her directly. She can also arrange times for Torah readers to come into the synagogue to practice reading their portion out of the actual Torah Scroll.
Marilyn Kiefer
Marilyn Kiefer, Part-time Rabbinic Administrative Assistant

Marilyn Kiefer, Part-time Rabbinic Administrative Assistant Marilyn was Rabbi Wise’s Rabbinic Secretary for 20 years before retiring in January 2016 to work part-time.  If you need information about yahrzeits, want to know how to arrange for a memorial plaque in memory of a loved one or are looking for family history, she can help.  You can find her in the synagogue office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  
Kim Ambrosius, Rabbi Wise's Administrative Assistant

was born and raised in Cincinnati and went to school for Computer Business Management.

She handles Rabbi Wise's calendar scheduling, works with bar/bat mitzvah students and their families, arranges caring havurah deliveries and handles registration for adult studies classes.  If you have questions about conversion to Judaism or how to arrange for a bris or baby naming, she can help. In her spare time, she loves to volunteer and help any animal shelter or organization to find homes and dwindle the homeless.

Tim and his staff maintain the synagogue's physical plant and grounds with great care- much as they do in their own homes.

Sydney Holt, School Administrative Assistant

Sydney is from St. Louis, MO.  She recently graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Religious Studies and a certificate in Jewish Studies. Her years at Herzl Camp in Wisconsin, attending USY events, and studying abroad in Jerusalem, have steered her towards a career in the Jewish sector.
