The 5 Senses of Chanukah - Activities You Can Do at Home
Choose the activities you wish to do and then order your supplies using the order form at the bottom of the page!

TASTE

  • Mixology Class: For 21+ only!- Join an experienced bartender in learning how to make some fun Chanukah themed drinks on Thursday Dec 17th at 7:30pm. 

    *If you did not order a mixology kit you will need the following: 1.5oz Bourbon, 1 oz Lemon juice, 1 oz Cointreau Liquor, Dash of Angostura Bitters (optional), 1oz of Red Wine,  and 1.5 oz. Vanilla Vodka, .75 oz. Lemon juice, 1 oz. Chambord, Simple Syrup to taste for added sweetness, 1-2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters (Optional). A shaker or two glasses you can use to make the drinks in with ice in addition to a glass to enjoy the drink out of is recommended.

  • Latke Flight: Sweet vs Savory - try out these sweet and savory latke recipes at home and vote for your favorite combo to determine the best latke! Download the Sweet recipe and the Savory recipe here.
  • Edible Dreidels:For Tribes only!- Create your own edible dreidels to play and then eat something so sweet! 

  • Sufganiyot- Up for an adventure? Try out this sufganiyot recipe and share with us what you filled it with!

TOUCH

  • Clay Menorahs- Make your own fully functional menorah out of clay! Have extra? I’ve heard that it’s quite easy to make a little dreidel out of clay too! 

  • Felt Menorah: for children too young to light the candles- Using felt create your own flat menorah to “light” every night. Enjoy the mitzvah of lighting Chanukah candles with none of the risk! 

  • Origami Dreidels- We’ve seen dreidels out of wood, plastic, and clay, but have you ever made on out of paper? Follow along this guided video on how to make your very own origami dreidel!

SMELL

  • Candle Making: adult supervision required- Using essential oil scents that remind us of the time of the Maccabees, follow along these instructions and make your own candles to smell what the Maccabees smelled many many years ago (will make two candles in votives with two different scents)-SOLD OUT!

  • Chanukah Cookies: Use our recipe or follow your favorite recipe and create Chanukah shaped cookies. Nothing smells better than fresh Chanukah cookies made and decorated by you! 

SEE

  • Chanukah Cards- Create your own Chanukah cards to be sent to those in our community who need extra light this Chanukah season. Our goal is to send 50 to residents at Cedar Village. They can be mailed to: Cedar Villagec/o Rabbi Drew Kaplan 5467 Cedar Village DriveMason, OH 45040

  • Chanukah Lights- Drive through and pick up everything you need on Thursday Dec 10th while enjoying Chanukah music and the Adath parking lot decked out in lights

  • Candle Lighting- Every evening at 5:30 on Zoom to light the Chanukah candles together!

HEAR

  • MattyRoxx Concert: for Kids and Families of all ages- MattyRoxx will be singing Chanukah songs on zoom on Sunday night at 5:30 PM. He will light the candles and celebrate Chanukah with all of us! 

  • Chanukah Song Mad Libs- Your favorite Chanukah songs remixed! Use these templates and fill in your own silly words to create new and funny versions of classic favorite Chanukah Songs! Record your family singing your remixed version and be featured on Facebook and Youtube! 

  • Spotify Playlist- Here's a playlist of all our favorite Chanukah songs in one place for easy listening, dancing, and singing along!
