Jonty Blackman, who has become one of the top guides in Israel and who is in tremendous demand, has created two fantastic holiday experiences to help us better understand the upcoming High Holidays and from the perspective of being directly in Israel.
The first one is titled “WHO BY FIRE?” and is an Experience of Awe! It is an intense, deep, and moving virtual experience of the Jezreel Valley and the Kibbutz of Beit Hashita. It focuses on the Yom Kippur War of 1973 and how it affected the kibbutz - and the musical composition that years later became synonymous with this story. The piece of music had and still has a profound impact on Israeli society - and Jonty explores that also. This is a must-see prior to Yom Kippur.
The second virtual experience for this season is titled “GLAMPING IN THE HOLY LAND.” You might ask what is this. "Glamping is likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life's luxuries" It is a fun-filled, fascinating journey into the myriad of ways that the Festival of Sukkot is celebrated in Israel - both today and in previous centuries. In the virtual experience, we move through various areas of Israel highlighting the different aspects of the Sukkot festival.
This is an experience of celebration that begins in the here and now; then takes us back to ancient times; and eventually returns us to the modern-day State of Israel as we celebrate our ancient festival in a modern guise.
Grab your Lulav and Etrog - or perhaps just take a seat in front of your screen(!) - and join Jonty virtually for the celebration!
